Full Details
Starting out at midday from the entrance to the car park of New Mills Football Club – Details here.
The route will head out towards Dolly Lane and Chinley Churn, over narrow, but undulating country lanes once leaving town, dropping into Buxworth. From there we will follow the Peak Forest Tramway Trail to Chinley. Heading out the other side of Chinley, we’ll make the long climb up Maynestone Road, crossing the fast Hayfield Road to take a short off road section that connects a fast descent to Hayfield.
Leaving hayfield we’ll head up the steep Swallow House Lane and take some more off road tracks around Lantern Pike, on the way to Cown Edge. There is a rather steep off road section here, but its fairly short. However you are rewarded with great views of Manchester and surrounding area. A nice flowing descent is then in front of us all the way into the outskirts of Rowarth.
A bridle way teen takes us over the hills to Mellor, going past the historic mellow church. We then head over to Mellor Golf Course & down the bridle way to Brook Bottom.
Then it is just a few miles back into town, through Brook Bottom, and lovely views over New Mills. Finishing where we started, just in time for a drink, some food & a post cycle chat at Millers Bar.
Hope to see you out on the trails!
